“Billy Elliot” – The Self-Made Boy

 The famous, successful British musical “Billy Elliot” made a long way to the US stages, as it had to wait for nearly 10 years to be staged at Broadway.     I liked the story very much, and I believe that it was highly topical when performed at Broadway in 2008. The times were tough for Americans as well, and there was a great uncertainty about the future awaiting anyone who used to live well before the crisis. The motifs of the Great Depression were highly similar to the ones of the global economic crisis that broke out in 2007, so the picture was even too realistic to be the part of the past.
